A Poet First
Learn from their misfortune
Learn from their pain
Believe in something
Believe in yourself
Turn adversity into ambition
Now blossom into wealth
-Tupac Shakur
Tupac Shakur was an incredible artist in my opinion and is worthy of taking a look at today more so than yesterday. First of all, who didn't know that Tupac was a poet before he ever became the iconic rapper that many know him as? That was rhetorical, so don't raise your hand, I'll just assume we all knew of his poetic skills. If you hadn't noticed in his lyrics, most of them had a poetry overtone to them which he mastered into putting in a standard hip hop cadence. No matter the thug image, he was a poet at heart. One of the great minds of my generation's phase of hip hop poetry. Just a poetic reflection
